Ferry sank in Makassar Strait, SAR under way, USS Rushmore rescued 65 people

Ferry KMP Titian Muhibah sank in Makassar Strait in the morning June 9 in position 01 07N 118 43E, 113 nm east of Balikpapan, Kalimantan. Reportedly there were 65 passengers and 32 crew on board, plus motorcycles. Ferry was en route from Bontang, East Kalimantan, to Mamuju, West Sulawesi. USS Rushmore, which was passing the Strait, rescued 65 people, fishermen rescued at least 5 passengers, SAR is under way. No data found on ferry KMP Titian Muhibah. The cause of the sinking yet unknown.
