Turkish freighter Meryem with 12 tons of hashish intercepted in Mediterranean

Turkish freighter Meryem was intercepted in international waters in Mediterranean sea off Italian coast by Italian drug enforcement agency and military forces, after coordinating arrest with Turkish authorites, on a suspicion of drug trafficking. Vessel was taken to Palermo and has been docked in Palermo on May 4, 12 tons of hashish were found in the hold. Vessel is also suspected in human trafficking.
