General cargo vessel Tuna 1 shelled in Libyan waters, 1 dead
Reuters reported a Turkish dry cargo ship was shelled from the Libyan coast as it approached the port of Tobruk and then attacked from the air as it tried to leave the area on May 10, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on May 11. The third officer died and other crew members were wounded in the attacks, which the ministry condemned in a statement. It did not specify who launched the assaults.
According to AIS track, vessel was attacked in the afternoon May 10 off Bayda, Libyan coast. At 1100 UTC May 11 vessel was under way in Mediterranean sea 25 nm south of southern coast of Crete island, moving in eastern direction at 9.3 knot speed.
