Guangzhou collision update
General cargo vessels Ming Yang Zhou 179 and Suidongfang 332 collided at 0240 LT May 7 in a waterway Guangzhou – Hong Kong near buoy 59. Ming Yang Zhou 179 suffered holes in bow area above waterline, while Suidongfang 332 hull was breached below waterline midship , vessel sank shortly after collision. 7 crew was rescued. There were 57 containers on board of Suidongfang 332, most of them were washed away and are drifting in the area, hampering traffic. Latest reports say divers found 20 sank containers, by 1600 LT May 7 8 containers were recovered.

Container ship sank in collision with freighter, 7 died, containers clogged waterway, HK
Container ship and freighter collided at 0240 LT May 7 near Dongguan Humen Ferry Terminal, Hong Kong Airport, in Pearl river estuary. Container ship reportedly sank, 7 crew died, 7 rescued, at least 30 containers are floating in the area. Ferry closed until waterway cleared of floating containers. Vessels yet not identified.
