Bulk carrier fire and mysterious behavior, Black sea

May 5, 2015 at 13:14 by Mikhail Voytenko in Accidents

Bulk carrier Georgios P reportedly suffered fire on board on May 5, when vessel presumably was in Kerch Strait on Port Kavkaz road, Black sea, Russia. Vessel approached Kerch Strait late May 4, after that signal went off. Probably vessel was destined for one of Crimean ports, which are banned from calling. Some or many vessels are trying to conceal their true positions, if they’re calling Crimea. One of the AIS sites reports “signal conflict”, positioning bulk carrier at Sri Lanka.
