First US-built Con-Ro enters service

The first large container-ro-ro (Con-Ro) vessel built in the US has entered service with America’s Pasha Group.The 21,132dewt Marjorie C was built by VT Halter Marine at Pascagoula, Mississippi for service between the US West Coast and the Hawaiian Islands.

Built at a cost of US $144m Marjorie C can carry 1,400 TEU and 2,750 vehicles. She is fitted with two 40 tonne capacity deck cranes for container handling, while ro-ro cargo accesses the vessel via a 350 tonne capacity stern ramp.
