MV Meiyu No. 18 capsized in Tsugaru Strait, 1 missing, 2 dead

MV Meiyu No. 18, presumably a tug, capsized in Tsugaru Strait, between Hokkaido and Aomori Prefecture, Honshu, Japan, in the afternoon Mar 27. One of the four crew was rescued by Japan Coast Guard early in the morning Mar 28, some 15 hours after capsizing, two dead bodies were recovered, one is understood to be missing. The Meiyu No. 18 belongs to a shipping company in Kumamoto Prefecture. The boat was towing a pontoon loaded with ship components. No data found on Meiyu No. 18, but judging from a photo of the capsized vessel and her towage of the pontoon, it’s a tug.
