May start for Brittany Ferries new vessel
French western Cross-Channel operator Brittany Ferries latest vessel, Baie deSeine, is currently in the Remontowa Shipyard in Gdansk, Poland having exhaust gas scrubbers fitted before she starts her five year charter to the French operator from her owners DFDS Seaways. Formerly the Sirena Seaways, operating in the Baltic, the 2002-built, 22,382grt vessel will join another chartered ferry, the 2008-built, 26,904grt Etretat on Brittany Ferries ‘economie’ – no frills services from Portsmouth to Le Havre (four times a week) and Portsmouth-Bilbao (once a week).
Baie de Seine was built in Poland for Italian operator Lloyd Sardegna, but was bought by DFDS while under construction. Following delivery in 2002 the ferry operated between Esbjerg, Denmark and Harwich, UK until this route closed in September 2014. She then moved to the Baltic operating between Paldiski and Kapellskar.
