Product tanker Singa Berlian hijacked, cargo stolen

Product tanker Singa Berlian was hijacked by seven pirates, armed with guns and machetes, on Mar 9 in waters of Pulau Bintain island, Indonesia, Singapore Strait. Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) found the vessel on Mar 11 off Batu Pahat, Johor State, Malaysia, Malacca Strait. Pirates stole some 1500 tons of marine fuel, transferring it to other vessel. They robbed the crew of all its’ valuables, and damaged navigational and communication equipment. One of the crew was slightly injured. Vessel was en route from Singapore to Labuan, Borneo, Malaysia.
