Lindblad Expeditions to build two new cruise ships

March 12, 2015 at 12:19 by Mike Hood in Ship Building and Technology

Following its take-over by Capital Acquisition Corp II, leading expedition cruise line Lindblad is to order at least two new vessels. The size of the new ships and the yard that will build them hasn’t been revealed. However, the Lindblad fleet has traditionally been made up of small, specialised vessels, carrying less than 200 passengers.

Lindblad Expeditions, in partnership with National Geographic, currently operates six ships: National Geographic Orion, 102 passengers; National Geographic Explorer, 148 passengers; National Geographic Endeavour 96 passengers; National Geographic Islander, 48 passengers; National Geographic Sea Lion, 62 passengers and sistership National Geographic Sea Bird. The company also charters the historic tall ship Sea Cloud, 58 passengers.
