Bulk carrier CSE Clipper Express ran aground at around 1330 Tokyo time Mar 11 some 400 meters off Akita Prefecture coast, Honshu Island, Japan, Japan sea, in vicinity of Yurihonjo. Vessel left Akita on Mar 11 in ballast, bound for Taiwan, and was caught in severe snowstorm with wind about 25 meters/sec, sea up to 8 meters. 20 crew (11 Taiwanese, 9 Chinese) unharmed and believed to remain on board, maybe because it’s safer to stay on board than try to evacuate them.
