German warships return home after global deployment

FGS Brandenburg

Three German Navy frigates are on their way home after a two month global deployment that has seen them visit the UK, the Canary Islands, Angola and South Africa. The three vessels, the Brandenburg-class 5,400 ton full load displacement FGS Brandenburg (F 215), the Bremen-class 3,680 ton full load displacement FGS Karlsruhe (F 212) and the Sachsen-class, 5,600 ton full load displacement FGS Hessen (F 221) sailed from Wilhelmshaven in mid-January and their deployment saw the vessels visit the homes of the Royal Navy, in Portsmouth, and the South African Navy, in Simonstown.
