Drilling rig COSL INNOVATOR towed to safe waters
Semi-submersible drilling rig COSL INNOVATOR was hit by a giant wave on Dec 30 at the Troll field in the North Sea west off Bergen, killing one staff member and injuring two. All three were evacuated by a helicopter, one died during transportation, other two are reportedly in critical condition. The rig was taken away from oil well, because of stormy weather. It is not clear whether rig was hit before or during towage. At 1500 UTC Dec 31 the rig was already in safe waters south of Fedje. Rig suffered, according to available reports, little damage.
