Cargo vessel capsized, reportedly sank, 10 crew missing, Andaman sea UPDATE
Cargo vessel capsized in position 07 36N 096 36E, in Andaman sea, about 100 nm west of Phuket island, late at night Dec 29 or during the night Dec 30. Vessel reportedly sank, Thai Navy launched SAR, number of crew presumably 10 persons, all Burmese. Vessel reportedly was en route from Myanmar to Penang Malaysia with cargo of timber. Distress signal was received by Thai marine police at around 1700 Bangkok time Dec 29. Probably vessel was coastal freighter, not registered in intl databases, without IMO. As of morning Dec 30, no crew found.
Aung Chat Sar is a wooden cargo vessel 27 meters long, reportedly Myanmar, 10 crew, all still missing, SAR reportedly still underway. Vessel loaded with timber was en route from Myanmar to Penang.
