mt HU YOU 8 collided fv MIN SHI YU, Taiwan Strait

Product tanker HU YOU 8 collided with fishing vessel MIN SHI YU in the afternoon Nov 4 in position 24 35N 118 53E, 20 nm southeast of Quanzhou, Taiwan Strait. Tanker loaded with 2976 tons of gasoline was breached in bow and portside tank 5 areas, with ensuing water ingress and developing list, achieving 20 degrees. Tanker was stabilized by dispersing cargo and by ballasting, and started to move to Meizhou Bay, escorted by Coast Guard ships. Reportedly tanker was anchored in Meizhou Bay, salvage under way. Fishing vessel was also damaged in bow area, but not so seriously, and was able reached Shishi port under own power. One crew on board of fishing vessel was injured, and later hospitalized. It is not clear if any leakage occurred.
