Dec. 30, 2014 at 08:07 by Mikhail Voytenko in Accidents

General cargo vessel Mercy God dragged anchor and ran aground on a southern coast of Bozcaada island, Turkey, south of Dardanelles, Aegean sea. It’s not clear for how long vessel was anchored, and why. According to AIS and Turkish Maritime Safety Administration, vessel was at anchor since May. It is understood, that such a long stay was caused by some legal issues of unknown character. Vessel loaded with 1267 tons of onion initially was en route from Alexandria to Novorossiysk. Vessel was refloated with the help of tugs, and taken to a safer anchorage. On a Turkish Maritime Safety photo Mercy God aground.
