LPG tanker DL Calla issued distress signal in the evening Dec 10, reporting explosion on board while under way, some 26 nm off Pulau Kapas island, Malaysian coast, South China Sea, en route from UAE to Sri Racha, Thailand, with cargo of liquefied gas. Two crew died in an explosion, and two were badly injured. Explosion sparkled fire, which was extinguished by the crew by the time Malaysian rescue vessel arrived at the scene. It is said, that the explosion was caused by gas leak, present status of tanker unknown. Presumably tanker remained under own power, and resumed sailing to Thailand, though there is not AIS track yet of the vessel in or near Sri Racha and Laem Chabang.
