Dec. 1, 2014 at 10:58 by Mikhail Voytenko in Accidents

South Korean fish factory O-ryong 501 (Oryong 501) sank at 1730 LT Dec 1 in Anadyr Bay, Chukotka, Russia, Bering sea. From 62 crew only 7 were rescued by a nearby Russian trawler Carolina-77 (IMO 8821462), among them the only Russian nationality on board, fish inspector. Vessel was taking out trawl and capsized, most probably because she was already unstable due to faulty ballasting (fuel, cargo, ballast). 55 crew went missing, vessel reportedly sank. Last AIS signal dated Nov 27 in position 62 17.05N 177 47.26E, Anadyr Bay. No data on nationalities of the crew yet, supposedly crew was multinational.
