General cargo vessel Baris with 700 migrants on board seems to be on tow
General cargo vessel Baris requested assistance at around 0500 UTC Nov 25 in position 34 33N 026 27E, south of Crete Island, Mediterranean, reporting engine failure in a stormy weather, and some 700 migrants on board. Nearby merchant vessels and Greek Navy ship were directed to a distressed Baris. Greek authorities said evacuation is not needed and they’ll try to tow vessel to Crete, though media said it is believed vessel was to deliver migrants to Italy. No updates as of morning Nov 26, which means situation is under control and vessel most probably, is on tow.
