Phuc Xuan 68 vs. Nam Vy 69, eight crew missing

Vietnamese general cargo vessels Phuc Xuan 68 and Nam Vy 69 collided at 0100 Hanoi time Nov 9 in 12 04N 109 22E off Vietnam coast, 15 nm SE of Nha Trang, South China sea. Phuc Xuan 68 sank, 3 crew were rescued, 8 went missing. Nam Vy 69 was also damaged, with reported water ingress in a cargo hold, but remained afloat and underway. Nam Vy 69 rescued three survivors from Phuc Xuan 68. Search under way for missing sailors. Phuc Xuan 68 was loaded with steel or iron ore, Nam Vy 69 was loaded with beans and corn, vessel docked in Nha Trang for repairs.
