Indian naval vessel sinks, one dead, four missing

One person was killed and four people have been reported missing after a Torpedo Recovery Vessel (TRV) of the Indian Navy sank off the east coast of India.

The accident occurred yesterday at approximately 8 pm local time off the coast of Visakhapatnam while the TRV A-72 was on a routine torpedo recovery exercise. According to the reports the vessel started sinking after the water suddenly flooded into one of the compartments. 23 of the 28 sailors onboard the vessel were rescued by ships of the Eastern Naval Command that were immediately dispatched to the scene of accident. Search operation for the missing crew members is underway.
