Parida loaded with radioactive wastes on tow after fire, Scotland

Ro-ro cargo vessel Parida with radioactive wastes on board, en route from Scrabster (north coast of Scotland) to Antwerpen, suffered fire in one of the two funnels, or in the engine room, in the afternoon Oct 7, in Moray Firth, off Wick. Crew extinguished fire, but was disabled and started to drift in adverse weather. Early in the morning Oct 8 Parida was taken on tow by offshore tug Pacific Champion (IMO:9455129), at 0330 UTC Oct 8 caravan was in Moray Firth some 23 nm south of Wick, proceeding south at a speed of some 6.5 knots.
