Coast Guard aircrew delivers blood to cruise ship
10 units of blood were airdropped by a Coast Guard aircrew to the cruise ship CARNIVAL MIRACLE on Tuesday, when the ship was northeast of the island Oahu, Hawaii.
The cruise ship contacted the Coast Guard of Honolulu on Sunday and requested medical assistance for one of the passengers aboard the vessel. The 76-year-old man had an internal bleeding and its state got worse. The aircrew on a HC-130 Hercules successfully delivered the blood via parachute to the medical workers on board of the CARNIVAL MIRACLE.
At the time of incident the CARNIVAL MIRACLE was en route from Vancouver, British Columbia to Nawiliwili, Kauai.
