Bulk carriers Best Unity and capesize Southern Explorer collision

Bulk carriers Best Unity and Southern Explorer collided in the Singapore Straits in the morning or during daytime Sep 12. Both vessel understood to suffer damages, fully loaded Southern Explorer said to be breached with ensuing water ingress. Presumably both vessels were under way on opposite courses. According to available data Southern Explorer’s bow part is sitting low in the water due to water ingress. Both vessel are presently anchored in Singapore Straits off Singapore, tug Maju 511 and reportedly other support vessels are standing by. Southern Explorer was en route to Taiwan, Best unity was ballasting from Taiwan.
