Syrian chemical weapon is currently in Baltic Sea
A specially equipped U.S. ship - the CAPE RAY that recently successfully completed the work of neutralizing Syrian chemical weapons components brought the remaining chemicals to the Baltic Sea.
The CAPE RAY has on board hundreds of tons of chemical components, which are used as a primary product for manufacture of such warfare agents as sarin and mustard gas. The chemical substances have to be destroyed in Finland and Germany.
Last week the vessel crossed the German territorial waters and while passing by Fehrman and Rügen was assisted by the the law enforcement vessel ESCHWEGE. At this weekend the vessel has discharged the part of chemicals in Finnland. Currently the CAPE RAY is en route to Germany, where it will unload 400 tons of chemicals, which will be disposed of chemical warfare agents by a federally owned company.
