Europe-Bound Jet Tankers Seen at 470,000 Tons This Week
Four tankers carrying 300,000 metric tons of jet fuel will be arriving at ports in northwest Europe or the U.K. from the Middle East or Asia for the week beginning Aug. 31, according to the OPIS Tanker Tracker on FleetMon.com.
Another four tankers laden with a further 170,000 tons are also seen discharging at ports in the Mediterranean region, taking the total Europe-bound tally to 470,000 tons for the seven-day period ending Sept. 6.
The figures compare to the prior seven-day period of Aug. 24-30, when seven tankers were tracked arriving to northwest Europe or the Mediterranean to discharge nearly 300,000 tons of jet fuel.
That includes Vitol’s 90,000-ton cargo on the Ratna Namrata, that has arrived at the Spanish port of Algeciras, after earlier expectations it was only heading to northwest Europe.
Total-controlled Isola Blu appears to be diverting to Immingham, in the UK, arriving Aug. 30, after previously signaling its arrival at Le Havre.

Tankers and cargoes scheduled to arrive in northwest Europe in the seven-day period starting Aug. 31 include DL Bellflower (80,000 tons, Shell), King Douglas (65,000 tons, Saudi Aramco, arriving Antwerp Sept. 2 ); SCF Alpine (Total, 65,000 tons); and Zaliv Amurskiy (Vitol, 90,000 tons due to call Le Havre on Sept. 3).
Med cargoes include BB Energy’s 40,000-ton cargo arriving on the Alpine May at Fiumicino, Italy by Sept. 3, and another 30,000-ton Midor cargo on the Gea for which the destination isn’t known.
Cepsa’s Maersk Rhode Island, (30,000 tons), is also arriving in the Med along with the Libya-loaded Libera (30,000 tons).
The September tally of Europe-bound jet fuel currently stands at 1,649,000 metric tons arriving on 28 tankers. For the northwest Europe and U.K. region, inbound volumes are currently seen at 1,559,000 tons on 24 tankers. August imports of jet fuel to Europe were measured at 1,750,000 tons, 12% higher than July.
