Aug. 15, 2014 at 07:07 by Mikhail Voytenko in Accidents

Windfarm support vessel OMS Pollux allided with a concrete pile of a wind turbine under construction after one of the anchors parted on Aug 14 some 12 miles west of Walney, Irish sea, reported local media. Portside hull was breached, some quantity of fuel leaked into the sea. Royal National Lifeboat Institution's (RNLI) Barrow station launched a lifeboat, which is to escort OMS Pollux to Liverpool. At 0600 UTC Aug 15 vessel was in Irish sea some 17 nm west of Liverpool, moving around in tacks at a speed of some 1.5 knots, situation not clear. Maybe vessel patched hole and went on with her tasks, or maybe she’s to stop leak to be admitted to port.
