June 27, 2014 at 13:13 by Svitlana Slavina in Accidents

The China-flagged cargo vessel SUI HAI YUN 382 ran aground at Butterfly Beach in Tuen Mun (Hong Kong).

According to the initial reports the vessel suffered an engine failure when it was heading to Tuen Mun to discharge the cargo. The strong winds forced the SUI HAI YUN to drift into shore and the vessel grounded at the busy beach area where people had been enjoying their time at seaside. There were no injures reported. The cargo vessel damaged the shark nets which are mounted to protect people from shark attacks.

It is the second time when the cargo vessel runs aground in the city this month and the forth in 2014.
