Wooden boat sinks off Malaysia, dozens missing
In the night of 17-18 June an overcrowded wooden boat capsized off Port Klang, near Banting in the Strait of Malacca. According to the rescue reports, at least 60 people have been rescued, dozens are still missing, five persons have died.
The boat was carrying 97 passengers who were illegal migrants from Indonesia. Passengers included women and children.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency dispatched the rescue boats to the area of incident. As reported by authorities, five sea vessels and a helicopter have been involved in the searching operation.
