High-speed ferry CACILHAS hits breakwater, 70 injured

Today morning the high-speed ferry CACILHAS being on its way from Hong Kong to Macau crashed into a breakwater and left 70 people injured.

The collision took place at about 9:35 a.m. of local time, after the ferry departed from Hong Kong carrying 220 passengers and 13 crew members.

All injured people were taken to a hospital. As reported, at the time of accident the ferry was traveling at 35 knots per hour, weather conditions were fine.

The accident is being investigated by the Macau marine authority. It is the third accident in last eight months on the ferry route between Macau and Hong Kong - the world’s busiest route.
