Bulk carrier ran aground off Sweden, captain found drunk

On Sunday afternoon the Maltese-flagged bulk carrier KAISA ran aground at the entrance to the port of Helsingborg, Sweden.

The vessel grounded shortly after it failed to arrive into the port as reported by the Coast Guard. While investigating the accident, local police discovered that the captain of the vessel was heavily intoxicated. According to the local reports, the captain consumed alcohol only after the vessel was aground.

No one was reported to be injured in the incident. The KAISA was refloated and arrived at the port of Helsingborg on Monday morning.
