Ferry ADLER EXPRESS hits quay in Germany, 27 people injured
Yesterday afternoon the passenger ship ADLER EXPRESS with 233 passengers onboard hit the berth at Wittdün, island of Amrum, Germany.
As reported, during the docking maneuver the captain of the 42 meter long ADLER EXPRESS lost control of the ship. Obviously the ship could not react to the commands as it suffered an engine failure. Thus with the speed of 8 knots the ferry rammed the quay. When the accident happened many of the passengers had already left their seats and were waiting to disembark. The strong hit forced them to lose balance and to fall down. Due to the accident 27 passengers were injured, 6 of them got life-threatening injuries.
Several ambulances and helicopters were dispatched to the scene of accident. The collision is being investigated by experts.
