Fire on ferry DIEPPE SEAWAYS

The French-flagged passenger ferry DIEPPE SEAWAYS suffered a fire yesterday afternoon, on May the 1st.

The incident happened shortly before the vessel with 316 passengers and crew onboard arrived at the port of Dover. All passengers were evacuated from the ferry.

Fire was caused by the overheated boiler in the engine room. Nine fire engines and 45 firefighters were involved in the firefighting operation and a dozen ambulances were sent to the scene. As reported, 10 people were inured in a firefighting, five of the injured persons were hospitalized with burns to their face, arms and hands.
