April 23, 2014 at 11:53 by FleetMon Container Liner News in Container Shipping

The port of Muscat in Oman will cease its container activity and concentrate on tourism as of 1st June. Maersk reports that all commercial activities will therefore be transferred to the Sohar Industrial Port complex which is about 250km West of Muscat. As a consequence of this change the following service will stop calling at Muscat;

  1. CMA CGM’s Gulf Emirates Oman - Iraq Feeder
  2. Xpress Feeder and Simatech’s jointly operated India – Middle East ASX and NMG services
  3. Oman Container Line’s Jebel Ali-Oman service (Maersk takes slots on this service)
  4. Bahri's ECNA Middle East service.
