Evergreen Restructures its Far East – East Coast North America Services
Evergreen’s Far East – East Coast North America service AUE will be subject to significant changes as of mid-May. The Evergreen service NUE which operates on the same trade lane will simultaneously see changes to its port rotation.
The AUE service will undergo changes to its route, port rotation and capacity. The US port of Baltimore is to be replaced by the port of Norfolk and the port calls at Colon and Taipei are completely removed from the rotation whilst Xiamen and Singapore are added to the rotation. The route that previously went via the Panama Canal will now run through the Suez Canal instead. The new operation will also deploy vessels of a much higher capacity, switching to 7,000 - 9,000 TEU vessels instead of the fleet of 4,200 TEU vessels that are employed today. The service is expected to turn in 11 weeks. The new route will be inaugurated by the vessel HANJIN DALLAS on 14th May from Xiamen.
Hanjin will join Evergreen on the service as an operator and will brand it AW8. Currently Evergreen participates as an operator on the G6 Far East- East Coast North America service SVS and brands it AUE3. Hanjin participates as a sloter on CKYH’s Far East – East Coast North America via Suez service AW4, branding it AWK.
The other Far East – East Coast North America service operated by Evergreen (NUE) will see modifications to its port rotation in May. The service that runs via the Panama Canal will no longer call at Ningbo, Tokyo (west bound), Los Angeles, Oakland, Busan and Qingdao. The ports of Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Yantian and Baltimore however will be added to the new port rotation. The port of Baltimore, which was removed from the AUE service, will therefore still be covered by Evergreen.
The NUE service is served by 10 vessels every 7 days and has a 70 day rotation. It has an average service capacity of 4,500 TEU per week. The new rotation will be inaugurated by the vessel EVER DAINTY on 12th May from Kaohsiung.
