Carnival Ecstasy rescues 41 Cuban migrants
The Carnival Cruise vessel Carnival Ecstasy picked up 41 Cuban migrants from an overloaded boat in the Florida Straits on March 25th.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard the small boat with dozens of people was spotted by cruise liner’s crewmembers on Tuesday evening. The boat was taking on water and there were no life jackets or navigation equipment on board. No one was injured and all rescued Cuban migrants were transferred to a Coast Guard vessel, which was patrolling nearby.
As reported, the small boat was unseaworthy and its crewmembers were lucky to meet on their way the Carnival Ecstasy. Otherwise the migrant’s voyage could have ended tragically.
Rescued Cubans will be returned to their country of origin within next days.
