Maersk Modifies its Panama – Venezuela Offers
Maersk is closing one of its Panama – Venezuela services by the end of April. The service (see port rotation below: Panama Venezuela 1) was served by two 1,700 TEU vessels on a weekly frequency and a 14 day-rotation. The last sailing of the service will be executed by MAERSK WAKAMATSU which will discharge at Puerto Cabello on 26th April.
The 1,700 TEU vessel MAERSK WAKAMATSU will then join the fleet of Maersk’s second Panama Venezuela service (see pot rotation below: Panama Venezuela 2) on 27th April. The service will consequently deploy 3 vessels on a weekly-frequency instead of the previous 2 vessels.
The closure of the Panama – Venezuela service will cause Maersk’s new CALYPSO service to be the only one in the carrier’s portfolio to cover Point Lisas. CALYPSO is expected to deploy 3 vessels starting from 11th April 2014 (see: Maersk launches new Intra South America Feeder CALYPSO)
