Maersk Opens its West Africa - Mediterranean WAF10 Service and Closes Obsolete Intra West Africa Service

Maersk Line opens its new West Africa – Mediterranean WAF10 service which connects the ports of Malabo and Bata to the transshipment hub Tanger. As predicted in our previous articles this makes Maersk’s Intra West Africa service between Cotonou, Malabo and Bata obsolete, causing the Danish carrier to close down the service.

The Intra West Africa Service used to deploy the 1,120 TEU vessel TITAN and ran on a 17 day- frequency between Cotonou, Malabo, Bata, Benin and Equatorial Guniea. The last sailing of the service will be from Cotonou on 14th March 2014. Maersk will however continue to offer the Intra West Africa shuttle between Pointe Noire and Cabina and the shuttle between Pointe Noire and Matadi.

WAF10: Algeciras – Tanger Med – Pointe Noire – Libreville – Malabo (in alternance with Bata) – Bata (in alternance with Malabo) – Algeciras
