As of this March, Maersk’s intra-Asia subsidiary MCC Transport together with NYK will launch a new Japan to Thailand service. MCC calls this service new IA2 and NYK brands it Perseus. The present IA2 service which connected Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand is expected to be suspended.

The route will be inaugurated on 23rd March with the 5,120 TEU containership OCTAVIA. The vessel will start its sailing in Laem Chabang. MCC is expected to provide 2 vessels and NYK is to deploy 1 vessel. This will give a 21 day-rotation. All of the vessels are projected to have a capacity of about 5,000 TEU.
