Kwang Ja Ho ran aground in Antarctica

On February 24th the trawler KWANG JA HO registered in South Korea ran aground about 450m from the coast in the waters of Antarctica. The fishing vessel was coming from a Peruvian port transporting about 800 tones of krill on board.

The crew consists of 90 members. The coast guard of Chile has organized a rescue operation. All people onboard the KWANG JA HO are safe, there is no risk of oil spill into the water as the damage is limited to one of the vessel's drinking water tanks.
