India wants to implement direct shipping lane to Iran

As of Indias Daily Shipping Times the country is wishing to establish a direct shipping line to Chabahar Port, Iran. The offer was made this Sunday during a meeting with Iran's Minister Abbas Akhoundi in Teheran.

The aim is to reduce shipping costs for goods from India to Iran which currently have to be handled via Dubai. Additionally, this port could serve as India's future entrance port to Afghanistan, Central Asia and beyond.

In accordance to Indians Ambassador Shri D.P. Srivastava in Teheran a private Indian company would be ready to establish the direct route to Chabahar Port. An investment amounting to 147 million USD is anticipated for constructing a container terminal in Chabahar.
