CMA CGM Launches The First Ever Direct North Europe – Black Sea Service
As of February 20th, CMA CGM extends its FEMEX1 service by adding three new port calls in the Black Sea (Samsun, Novorossiysk and Constantza). After a prior extension of Northern Europe ports in 2013, the service now provides the first direct connection to the Black Sea. The new ports were already connected via Marsaxlokk (CMA CGM’s Black Sea Feeder 1). There are only three carriers offering calls at Samsun, CMA CGM, MSC and Arkas. Additionally, FEMEX1 is connected to CMA CGM’s network via the two hubs Marsaxlokk and Tanger Med.
The new route will be first sailed by CMA CGM LAVENDER, which will call in Samsun on March 11th (Novorossiysk March 13th, Constantza March 15th). Currently there are 6 vessels with an average weekly capacity of 2,820 TEU deployed on the service. United Feeder service and MCL are still taking slots on the Malta Aegean ports.
