​Mexican fisherman spent 13 months in Pacific

A mysterious man in his small damaged boat has been washed ashore in the Marshall Islands last week. The castaway, who identified himself as Jose Salvador Albarengo, claimed he was drifting across the Pacific Ocean for more than a year. Jose said he left Mexico with his fried in December 2012 on board of a fibre-glass ship. The boat lost power and was swept out to the sea by strong winds. Mexican fisherman said he was eating caught birds and fish and his thirst he satisfied by drinking turtle blood. His companion didn’t survived and died several months ago, claimed the castaway.

Currently the authorities are investigating the veracity of the „shipwrecked man's“ story.

It has become known, that Jose originally comes from Garita Palmera in El Salvador and had being living in Mexico for 15 years before his unlucky adventure.
