Oil tanker Kerala found with stolen cargo

Jan. 29, 2014 at 17:45 by Svitlana Slavina in Maritime Security

The oil tanker Kerala, reported missing on January 18 (see our previous news on the case), has reestablished communication with its operator company Dynacom Tankers Management.

As reported, the vessel was attacked by suspected pirates. The crew members are healthy and safe, only one person was wounded. As the crew of the tanker said, a large amount of the cargo had been stolen.

In other hand, the Angolan Navy stated, there were no actions of piracy in Angolan waters. The Navy’s spokesman declared, the crew of the vessel had disabled the communication on purpose.

Conflicting statements of the Angolan Navy and the crew members of the oil tanker make the case pretty puzzling and it is difficult to decode what really happened.
