Explorer of the Seas leaves 600 people ill
More than 600 people aboard the Explorer of the Seas fell ill and many of them are currently suffering from vomiting and diarrhea.
On January 21 the Royal Caribbean cruise ship left Cape Liberty Cruise Port, New Jersey. After the passengers and crew members of the ship were affected by gastrointestinal illness, the cruise liner has to end its planned 10-days trip two days earlier.
So far the reasons that caused the outbreak are unknown. The results of medical tests will be ready this week. The cruise line believes the norovirus might have led to illnesses. Usually this virus spreads from an infected person, contaminated food or water.
The cleaning and disinfection procedures on board of the cruise liner were increased. Next cruise passengers need to be sure that all necessary actions were taken to prevent new infections.
