On Jan 4 14 Japan Coast Guard found partially sunken Taiwanese fishing vessel Cheng Tsai Li about 35 nautical miles (64.82km) off the northeastern tip of Miyako Islands, between Taiwan and Okinawa. Vessel was partially destroyed, evidences of burning were found. 5 crew, including two Taiwanese and three Indonesian fishermen, is missing. Cheng Tsai Li, was a Kaohsiung-registered long-line fishing boat, no other data found. Search is under way. It’s not clear at present, whether it was an accident or a crime. Taiwanese fishing vessels with mixed crews including Indonesians are notoriously known for a lot of crimes occurring on their board.
