Mega LNG tanker AL GHARRAFA and mega boxship HANJIN ITALY collided in the morning Dec 29 13 in international waters in Malacca Strait between Batam and Singapore. It was a contact or an allision, because for vessels of such size they got off rather easily, it could be much worse. Boxship suffered damaged starboard side in middle area, tanker suffered bow damage. Both vessel moved to Singapore road. It is understood, that Al Gharraf was loaded, en route from Ras Laffan to Singapore. Luckily, cargo area wasn’t damaged, or else it could be a full-scale disaster.
