American towing vessel Martha T was reported grounded on its way to the channel at Horn Island Pass not far from the western side of Petit Bois Island.

The Coast Guard Sector Mobile got a report, that the grounded tug plunged into the water. Fortunately, there was no danger of sinking and the crew of five people was rescued. There were n't any injures, pollution and medical concerns reported. Martha T was moving two barges, that were not grounded with the towing vessel.

Coast Guard Lt. Michael Clausen informed, that the taking on water was uncommon for the grounded tug. He said also: "It looks like there is a little bit of diesel coming from the shaft which is creating a sheen". The water from Martha T was removed with pumps.
