Vietnamese freighter Vinacomin 03 sank after collision with sistership Vinacomin 02

Vietnamese bulk carrier VINACOMIN 03 collided with sistership belonging to the same company, VINACOMIN 02, at around 01:30 LT Mar 19 13 in position 18 29N 106 41E, some 25 nautical miles off Vietnam coast, Bay of Tonkin. VINACOMIN 03, loaded with about 3,000 tons of coal, sank after collision. VINACOMIN 02 rescued 13 crew and 1 went missing. After several hours of searching, missing crew was found and understood to be rescued, safe and sound. VINACOMIN 02 reportedly suffered some damages, the extent of the damages unknown.
