Colombian coaster FM Express destroyed by fire, Barranquilla
Colombian coaster FM Express caught fire at night Mar 10 13, some 5 nautical miles north of Bocas de Ceniza, Barranquilla, Colombia. Vessel was en route from Colon, Panama, to Puerto Nuevo, Columbia, with some 300 tons of general cargo on board. 8 Colombian crew went into life boat and were rescued by Coast Guard units with the help of bulk carrier UBC Sacramento. According to FM Express Master, fire started in engine room after a short circuit. Cargo consisted of, as cited by local media, “appliances, dishes and food”. The scale of fire though, seems to be rather odd. Photos from shipspotting.com and zonacero.info, latter has video, too.
